International School, our Lower Primary stage builds on early foundations as

Primary Curriculum, we inspire a love of discovery while equipping every child
with the skills and confidence to thrive in an international world.
At SAIL, classmates come from many different countries, each with its own school system and a specific age for starting school. To help you understand our approach, please refer to the overview of our learning stages.
In Poland, primary school usually begins at age 7 latest, after an obligatory “Zero” class — known at SAIL as our “Reception Class – P1.”
Classes P2 to P4 use an integrated learning approach called "Early School Education", with most lessons led by one form teacher. This dedicated teacher typically stays with the same class throughout all three years, providing stability and a strong sense of community.
In the Early School Education Stage, learning usually takes place in three, and sometimes four, integrated learning blocks each day. During thematic, hands-on learning, project work or outings, the structure of the day may be adapted to the learning process and the nature of the activity. This approach helps children learn in a practical and engaging way, linking knowledge and skills with real-world experience.
Beyond the core learning time, children may stay at school in the day care centre from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm. During this time, they can enjoy supervised play, spend time with friends or take part in extracurricular activities such as lego-robotics, jui-jitsu or other clubs offered during the school year. The selection of clubs and activities is established at the beginning of each year.
During the so-called Early School Education in Poland — which lasts from P2 to P4 class at SAIL— children learn through an integrated approach led by one form teacher who guides most subjects. This creates a stable, caring environment where the teacher truly knows each child’s strengths and needs.
Learning is project-based and thematic, connecting subjects such as language, mathematics, science, art, and social studies in meaningful ways. This holistic approach helps children see how knowledge fits together, develop curiosity, and build confidence in expressing their ideas across different areas of learning.
At SAIL, the Polish model of integrated learning is thoughtfully combined with the internationally acclaimed Cambridge Primary Curriculum. This blend helps children build strong foundations in communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking while exploring topics through inquiry and creativity.
The Cambridge framework complements Poland’s holistic approach by introducing global perspectives, clear learning goals, and internationally benchmarked standards. Together, they nurture curiosity, academic confidence, and a global mindset—helping every child grow as an open-minded learner ready to thrive in an interconnected world.
English is the main language of learning and daily communication at SAIL, helping to unite our international classes and follow the Cambridge framework. Children quickly grow confident using English both in lessons and through natural interaction with classmates from around the world.
At the same time, we value every child’s linguistic and cultural identity. Lessons in Polish, German, Danish, Ukrainian, and other mother tongues are offered according to demand, allowing students to maintain and develop their native languages.
Foreign pupils also receive a two-year introductory course in Polish, helping them feel comfortable and connected in the country they currently call home.
In Lower Primary, each child’s progress is continuously observed and assessed by the form teacher. Development is monitored across key areas of learning — including language and communication, mathematical thinking, environmental and social understanding, artistic expression, physical development, and social-emotional growth.
Progress is described in written form rather than numerical grades, providing a clear and personal picture of every child’s growth.
These detailed observations are shared with parents during Parent–Teacher Meetings and on the end-of-semester report card, ensuring open communication and a comprehensive view of each student’s learning journey. Parent–Teacher Meetings are held twice each semester.
In addition to regular teacher observations, SAIL also offers optional assessment tools from the Cambridge Primary Curriculum. The Cambridge Insight computer-based diagnostics help identify each child’s learning potential and inform individual teaching strategies for ages 5–11.
From Class P3 onwards, teachers may also use Cambridge Progression Tests in English, Mathematics, and Science to monitor knowledge, skills, and understanding. These assessments provide valuable insight into student progress and help guide the next steps in learning.
